🌸 Mini Bromeliad ‘Pink’ Care Sheet
(Typically from the Guzmania, Neoregalia, or Tillandsia family)
Miniature bromeliads add a tropical flair with bright pink blooms or centers, compact size, and easy-care nature. Ideal for desks, shelves, and windowsills!
☀️ Light
🌞 Bright, indirect light is best.
🌤️ Can tolerate filtered sunlight but avoid direct midday rays — can burn leaves.
💡 Lower light slows growth and may reduce color intensity.
💧 Watering
💧 Water into the central cup (rosette) — this is how they absorb moisture!
🪣 Refresh water in the cup weekly to avoid bacteria.
💦 Keep the soil lightly moist, not soggy.
🚫 Never let it sit in standing water — it may cause root rot.
🔄 Use rainwater or filtered water to avoid salt buildup and leaf spotting.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
🌡️ Ideal temp: 65–80°F (18–27°C)
❄️ Do not expose to temps below 50°F (10°C)
💦 Loves moderate to high humidity (50%+)
✅ Great for kitchens, bathrooms, or near a humidifier.
🌱 Soil
🌵 Use a well-draining mix — orchid bark, perlite, or bromeliad-specific soil is best.
🪴 They like to be slightly snug in their pots.
🌸 Flowers & Foliage
💖 The “pink” is often a colorful bract, not the actual flower!
🌺 Bracts can last months, but the plant only blooms once in its lifetime.
🌱 After blooming, it will produce “pups” (baby plants) — you can separate them when they’re 1/3–1/2 the size of the parent.
🌼 Fertilizer
🌿 Feed monthly during spring/summer with a diluted bromeliad or orchid fertilizer.
🪶 Spray lightly on leaves or add to the water in the rosette.
❄️ No need to fertilize in fall/winter.
🐛 Common Issues
🚰 Rotting base: Overwatering or stagnant water in rosette
🌫️ Browning tips: Low humidity or poor water quality
🐞 Pests: Rare, but watch for mealybugs and scale — wipe with soapy water or neem oil
